Pokémon Sacred Gold (v1.05) is widely considered one of the most comprehensive and challenging "enhancement hacks" in the Pokémon community. Created by the legendary rom-hacker Drayano, this project transforms the original Nintendo DS title, Pokémon HeartGold, into a much more difficult and rewarding experience.

You no longer need a link cable. Pokémon like Alakazam, Machamp, and Gengar now evolve via level-up or by using specific items (like the "Covenant Ore").

💡 You will need every bit of Experience Points (XP) you can get to stay at the same level as the Gym Leaders.

Many versions of the patch include tweaks to speed up the engine.

Sacred Gold v1.05 introduces several features that make the gameplay loop smoother and more modern:

Almost every major boss uses a full team of six Pokémon.

Routes have been redesigned so you can catch a wider variety of types before the first Gym.

In the original HeartGold, many Pokémon were locked behind trades, version exclusives, or post-game areas. Sacred Gold fixes this by making all 493 Pokémon (up to Generation IV) obtainable within a single save file.
